FEBRUARY 2, 2006. Consider this article a backgrounder for THE PARANORMAL PROJECT (see box on the left side of this page).

When you survey Earth history from the earliest civilizations all the way down to the "TV assault of the Sunday preachers," you find an invariable rule:

TO WIN SUCCESS AND SUPPORT, YOU MUST APPEAL TO A HIGHER POWER.

You must show your audience you are making that appeal, and you must urge them to do it, too.

Priests in Egypt? Kings in Europe? Fundamentalists seeking to wage war? They all claim to be conduits for that Power.

This rule is so embedded in Earth culture it seems superfluous to mention it.

"Well, of course you would appeal to a higher force---what else is there?"

If you look at the more successful of the self-help gurus in these times, you'll find it there, as well. "Connecting to Source." "Being One with Cosmic Intelligence."

In which case, what is the human being? What is the soul? What is the psyche? Let's see. Think of an electron moving through a wire that is plugged into a wall socket. Without the socket, there is no electron.

Self-knowledge becomes seeing that there is a wall socket. Earth culture.

"May the force be with you." Connect to the higher power and gain strength, or stay separate and live out a hopeless life of weakness.

Every problem, misery, defeat, frustration of the human being is USED AS IRREFUTABLE EVIDENCE that the only way into bliss and success lies in hooking up to the higher power.

"Don't you see why you're failing? It's because you won't acknowledge higher power. Give up the ghost and you will find a new existence."

Alcoholic? Drug addict? Surrender to higher power. Admit you are powerless to change your circumstances without that connection.

The examples are endless.

The most enduring counter-strategy to all this has been the invention and growth of the field of study called psychology. But it has pretty much dead-ended, as a result of relying on two assumptions: what we are seeking can be found in an exploration of our pasts; we need to correct brain chemistry by ingesting toxic drugs.

There is another option. It has been cleverly booby-trapped by the Roman Church and by other cults, who propose that any naked attempt to expand the power of self amounts to making a pact with the Devil.

The Devil is the creature who tempts you with bargains. The Devil tries to trick you into seeking Larger Self. The Devil offers you material rewards to satisfy your evil ego---and then, when you fall for the con, cuts off your head and consigns you to an eternity in a steam bath.

Earth culture has come to permit limited expansion of self, as long as such expansion does not interfere with the status quo.

So now we come to the paranormal. Once we dust off that concept, once we remove the fleas and the lice from it, once we clear away all the sugary nonsense written about it, we see the underlying basis for the entire Earth culture: the containment and fencing in of individual power.

Why do I say that? Because the true area of the paranormal has to do with creating changes in the status quo. Radical changes.

Suppose you could get into the head of a major politician and alter his thinking.

Suppose you could get into the conditioned reflexes of huge numbers of soldiers on battlefields (on both sides) and remove those reflexes that demand killing.

Suppose you could instantly convince another person that he is not ordinary self, but is instead larger self.

Suppose you could, in the blink of an eye, reveal to massive numbers of people that the version of God they are worshipping has been painted and propped up by various institutions dedicated to a tyranny over the mind.

Suppose you could reveal to pedestrians on a busy street in New York that their perception of space and time and energy is rigged to make them think they live inside a continuum---when, in fact, they are creating that continuum.

Suppose you could display, to millions of minds at once, the slogans they live by, the slogans that keep them in a state of suspended animation.

Suppose you could stunningly reveal to a whole industrialized nation, with penetrating clarity, that every person (soul, psyche) has lived hundreds of millions of lives, of which this is only one.

Suppose you could open a door, a portal, to other dimensions, not just for yourself, but for everyone else.

Suppose you could transmit a thought that would carry to billions of people the lucid and undeniable message that they are laboring under the control of elites who, while pretending to care for them, are actually bent on keeping them enslaved.

Suppose you could permanently disable every nuclear trigger on the planet.

Suppose you could de-contaminate a river five thousand miles away and make food grow in the desert.

Suppose you could telepathically present irresistible images to medical researchers from one end of the world to the other---images that reveal they are following a path of developing toxic chemicals to kill germs---germs that have almost nothing to do with human disease, whereas the chemicals themselves do cause great harm to the body.

Suppose you could cause presidents and kings and dictators and power players behind the scenes to fall mute.

Suppose you could cause hundreds and thousands of television preachers to admit, during their televised sermons, their schemes for extracting money.

Now we are talking about what may look like the far shore of paranormal ability.

All this may seem impossible.

But the paranormal includes all these things and more.

This isn't just about playing around in a sandbox.

Earth culture has been enormously successful in conditioning people to believe that these paranormal scenarios are ridiculous and insane.

You could, in fact, say that THIS is the PURPOSE of Earth culture:

To subliminate and bury and destroy all intimations of what the paranormal can do.

To push down on the human being, so that the human spools out and invents a much lesser version of himself and holds on for dear life to this lesser version as if it is an anchor in a sea of turmoil.

When billions of people hold on to this lesser version of themselves, two things happen: they deny the paranormal; and they go to Higher Power for relief and hope and salvation.

So Higher Power, in many painted forms, is provided by denizens and controllers of Earth culture. "We knew you'd want this. Here it is."

What, in a nutshell, IS the paranormal?

It is expansion of self.

It is shedding the legend of lesser self.

It is engaging in a process where you meet and collide with larger self.

Attaining the paranormal is not merely a surgical operation in which the ability to perform some trick is grafted on to ordinary consciousness.

And to clear up a possible confusion, larger self is not the same thing as higher power. What you actually are is larger self. What you appeal to for relief, in the context of Earth culture, is higher power.

The two may look and feel like the same thing. There are many reasons for this seeming congruence. One reason is, you can invent higher power. You can invent it so that it will respond. You can also conceal from yourself that act of inventing.

The actual history of Earth culture involves the disintegration of the perception of larger self.

And this is not just Earth culture.

Everywhere in this continuum, the same process has been underway for a long time.

Here is why. Though we may have bought the ticket to take the ride in this continuum, at a higher level we INSTALLED this continuum, and we did it because we accepted certain convictions about the need to control and diminish our own wider abilities and capacities (which capacities we now call paranormal).

The continuum actually reflects back at us those convictions. It's a tap dance. We installed the continuum based on certain convictions, and now the continuum shows us, in essence, those convictions as irrefutable laws.

We burrow and crawl and fumble around to make lives and futures within the governing structure of those illusions we call natural laws.

Were we to make considerable progress toward nullifying those laws (those convictions), we would find ourselves in possession of the power to alter, in a grand and fast fashion, the entire face of the continuum.

We would have the power to do those things (and much more) that I mentioned above.

We would occupy the lost territory of larger self.

Some people call this becoming gods.

That's a metaphor. This has nothing to do with gods. "Gods" is Earth-culture talk. All the phrases and descriptions and commentary surrounding gods are born from Earth culture.

You want to find out whether there is a God? Become everything you are and then look around and see what's there.

In the process, you'll bang up against all sorts of assumptions generated by Earth culture and continuum culture. But instead of engaging in the very limited action of trying to surgically remove those limiting assumptions, you can take a different path: you can use those assumptions and incorporate them and transform them. It turns out that this is a viable way to go.

After all, in the dim, dim past, we DID in fact tell ourselves a story in which those assumptions were key players---and we used that story to begin the descent into smaller versions of ourselves.

So now we tell a different story...

And we find that, through the power of imagination, we can invent a far different future.

This universe is the materialization of story. Nothing more.

It is the boffo box office hit which appears to have no competition.

But that is a mistake.

There are, waiting in the wings, a trillion trillion more compelling stories.

But you and I will have to tell them.

In that process, the walls will tremble and the ceiling will fall. The ticking clock will go backwards and forwards and sideways. The space itself will warp and deflate and rip. Portals will appear. Thoughts that once were considered forever will change, shout their last tune, and break up like debris on the waves.

The eternal constants---war, suffering, pain, poverty, sickness, animal conflict, the need to control everything---will scream their demands for attention and they will be ignored. They, too, will collapse like old garbage in the rain.

Prophets in suits and robes will shout that we are following the urges of some Satan. They will, as they always do, announce their dire warnings. That is how they earn their pay. Their invented gods sign the checks.

Other prophets, more soothing, will assure us that we simply need to tie up our ships of soul to the Higher Power, and all will be well. Don't go out. Stay in port.

Preserve the perfect order.

Yes...that was part of the reason we made the descent from larger self to this. To keep order. To save the niceties. To engender the illusion of final calm.

We knew it was a scam, but we went for it anyway.

And now we have massive populations under what is essentially mind control.

How did it work out?

How does it look?

Did we win anything?

Or as ee cummings wrote, how you do you like your blue-eyed boy, Mr. Death?

Yes, Virginia, the paranormal is real. It isn't Santa Claus and it isn't the imagery of the Roman Church and it isn't the kind of god who calls for war and more war. That's all Earth culture.

The birth-idea for this website, no more fake news, was never just about pointing out flaws in The New York Times. It's about taking the full ride. The full ride bubbles up inside us, every day. If we choose to dampen it down, to step on it, that's our choice and our pleasure and our pain. So be it. I choose something else.
