JULY 24, 2007. This article will probably raise a few eyebrows. I won’t try to spell out how it relates to my upcoming tele-workshop on stress. I leave that to you. Think about its implications.
Consider these four ideas:
There are universes without end.
There is imagination without end.
Every individual has the potential to develop infinite creative power.
Every individual has the potential to create universes without end.
These core ideas have been glimpsed, now and then, here and there, throughout history. Whenever they’ve appeared, they’ve been ignored or discredited as the “personal opinions” of artists.
But from these glimpses, one can see the role played by religions in human history.
It is a draconian role. The attempt has been made to limit and control the use of creative power. This has been done by setting up myths of various gods who “own the ballpark.”
It’s a cruel strategy, and it certainly has benefited the priest class.
If you look back at the propaganda efforts of religions (in many cultures), you will see that rebels against the system have been characterized and pictured as demons who come from a sinister underworld.
When you accurately unburden these terms, DEMON becomes REBEL, and UNDERWORLD becomes launch-point for a counter-attack against the priests and other self-styled “owners of the universe.”
The ultimate method of inducing spiritual insanity in people is to teach them that their own creative power is a second-hand and limited gift loaned to them by one god or another. This is a lie. It has always been a lie. And it reveals a level of criminal activity that spills over into wars and destruction and oppression on a vast scale.
MEN, falsely believing that the basic hierarchy of religion gives them a model for behavior (patriarchal dictatorship), try to enjoy their favored status.
WOMEN, always having known (certainly since the founding of the “Garden of Eden” cults) that they were at the bottom of the food chain, realize deep down that they are the ultimate rebels against the empire.
Women HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN THEY HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE.
Men have deluded themselves into thinking that they benefit (in their souls) from the lies and the corruption----so they are the last to wake up.
Starting with archetypal myths of Lilith (Sumeria) and the spin-offs from that---e.g., Hecate (Greece), Ixchel (Maya), Heqit (Egypt), Kali (India) and many other female heroes---it has been clear that, on a deep level of psyche, women have deserted the system and have battled against it and have established their own spaces and outposts, where their creative power is free and unlimited, needing no sanction from any god.
The so-called witches of the Middle Ages in Europe were working from a basis of free energy and healing and magic. The Roman Church took each one of these items and wove lies and images around them, in order to make them appear to be repellent and disgusting and foul and evil…and, of course, a threat to men and to the patriarchy.
You can take the following analysis to be fact or metaphor or myth or archetypal knowledge embedded in the psyche. You can take it any way you want to:
Lilith was Adam’s original companion in the Garden of Eden, before a more compliant Eve was brought in. Lilith was, in fact, more powerful than Yahweh. When she realized she was about to be made a dupe in Yahweh’s plan to set up “unending martial law” in the universe, she “spoke magic words,” unleashed shattering force---her farewell message---and disappeared from the scene.
She went into a void, from which she (and others) could create, on their own, with unlimited power. Lilith knew that imagination creates universes. There is no shortage of imagination or universes.
She saw that Yahweh was about establishing his monolithic reign as a tinpot dictator who, at his whim, could change the rules and reward or squash human beings. She said no to that. She still does.
There are no intrinsic differences between the imagination/creative power of men and women. Women are not “less aggressive” in their own imaginations. Men are not “more farsighted” in their imaginations. Such differences are illusions fostered and perpetrated by the cultures of patriarchal madness and their consequences.
In the Mayan priest culture, Ixchel was the goddess of healing and birth, and the companion of the sun. The sun (sun god) became jealous of his own brother (the morning star), and exiled Ixchel. He (the sun) thought they were having an affair. The sun then lured her back into his world. She became bored with this game and left on her own accord. She wandered free through other spaces. She did what she wanted to do. The sun tried to follow her. She simply became invisible to him whenever he showed up. He was no match for her.
Hecate (Greece) was the triple goddess who had aided Zeus in his successful war against the old guard, the Titans. Understanding her power, Zeus thereafter left her alone to her own devices. He saw no chance of defeating her. She was the goddess of death and regeneration. The proper understanding of this role is: death is an illusion and the individual is immortal. Armed with such knowledge, the concept of empire becomes ridiculous.
Lilith was friend and companion to Lucifer, the most savagely attacked of all the rebels. Like Prometheus, who stole fire from the gods and gave it to humans, Lucifer had one central mission: overturn the power of the empire. It is no accident, of course, that his name is the joining of two Latin words: lux (light) and fer (carry).
Lucifer, portrayed as the arch demon from hell, was simply a rebel from the core of the opposition.
The so-called Satanic cults have nothing to do with original Lucifer. They simply use that name to justify their own homegrown insanity.
Against whom was Lucifer battling? The one who had created the Garden of Eden and then claimed it was the ONLY reality and, at that, a “MORAL” reality operating from a basis of whim and mood and improvised principle of behavior and the bloodthirsty desire for revenge and control. The patriarch who had consigned women to the bottom of the ladder of being.
In order for the patriarch to succeed, the mythmakers had to dispose of the open systems of many gods (polytheism) and institute in their place and in their cultures the One Dictator. Monotheism. This scheme particularly needed to focus on the elimination of female gods.
Among the mythmakers were those who consolidated the reputation of Yahweh, the artist of the Garden of Eden. In the story of the exodus of the Hebrews from Egypt, the harbinger plagues loosed upon the Egyptians contained an esoteric meaning. Each plague was considered a direct repudiation of an Egyptian god or gods.
So for example, the plague of frogs dropping from the sky was a signal of the rejection and erasure of the goddess Heqit, who was a magician. Heqit, who assisted in the birth of the sun every day. Heqit, without whom the sun would never rise. Heqit’s recognized totem was the frog, which stood for transformation. The ultimate transformations are: seeing through the illusion of this time and space; seeing through the illusion of this universe as the only universe; and seeing through the illusion of physical life as the only life---seeing through that to individual immortality.
Generally speaking, the female gods made no particular issue of gender superiority. For them, creation/imagination/power was there for anyone who took it in his/her hands. It was only the male gods who forwarded the lie of patriarchy, believing it could enhance their own soul-position. That was their delusion. It enhanced their state of self-induced mind control. And it stood as their major obstacle to creativity itself.
Of all the male gods, the most brilliantly aware one, the one who quietly rejected sitting at the table of excess with the Olympians or participating in their petty games---through which they interfered in the destiny of humans---was Hermes. Mercury. The uncrowned king.
Mercury, the trickster, the joker, the shape shifter, the time traveler, who upsets the consensus status quo, who lights fires on the hems of the patriarchs, stands back, and watches the uproar in the various Gardens of Eden where militant control is the name of the game.
It is worth understanding these matters, if for no other reason than to understand the ignorant overbalancing and overcompensating of Male-Female power that has come into its own now in America---where men are taught to cower like cartoons of woman, and women are taught to embody the worst aspects of the patriarch.
As usual, in America, the cartoon is All. Just look at the White House, where Mickey Mouse considers that destroying the world is a fair risk to take, in order to extend the reach of Disneyland.
